Privacy Policy

This is an English translation of our privacy policy for convenience. The legally binding version is the German Datenschutzerklärung.

Protecting your data matters to me. This policy informs you about which data is processed when you visit this website — and I’ve deliberately built it to be data-minimal: no Google services, no US cloud, traffic measurement on my own server in Germany.

1. Controller

MessingerDesign, Philipp Messinger & Werner Messinger GbR

2. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted on servers within Germany. When the pages are accessed, the server automatically collects information that your browser transmits (so-called server log files): browser type and version, operating system used, referrer URL, host name of the accessing computer, time of the server request and the IP address. This data is technically necessary to deliver the website and ensure its stability and security, and is not merged with other data sources.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a technically error-free and secure provision).

3. Traffic measurement with meinKI Analytics

For the statistical analysis of website usage I use meinKI Analytics — a self-developed, data-minimal solution that runs on my own server in Germany. No data is transferred to third parties or to third countries. Measurement is two-tiered:

  • Basic mode (always on): An anonymous, cookie-free count without storing information on your device. No device- or person-related identifiers are set. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a rough traffic measurement); access to your device is not required for this (§ 25 (2) TDDDG).
  • Full mode (only with your consent): After active consent via the cookie banner, additional session-based statistics are collected (e.g. pages visited within a session). Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR in conjunction with § 25 (1) TDDDG.

You can withdraw your consent at any time via the cookie icon at the bottom left, with effect for the future.

4. Cookies and consent management

The basic functions of this website work without tracking cookies. Only for the language choice and for storing your cookie decision are technically necessary entries set:

  • md_cookie_consent (cookie and localStorage entry): Stores your consent decision so the banner doesn’t appear again on every visit. Storage duration: up to 12 months. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; technically necessary within the meaning of § 25 (2) TDDDG.
  • pll_language (cookie): Stores your language choice (German/English) so the website appears in the selected language. Technically necessary (functional), no analysis or sharing. Storage duration: up to 12 months. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; technically necessary within the meaning of § 25 (2) TDDDG.

5. YouTube videos (enhanced privacy mode)

On individual pages I embed videos from YouTube. The videos are not loaded automatically: at first you only see a preview image stored locally on my server. Only when you actively click the video is a connection to YouTube established — via the domain youtube-nocookie.com in enhanced privacy mode. By clicking, you consent to the loading (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). From that point on, Google Ireland Limited processes data in accordance with its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy); data may also be transferred to the USA.

6. Fonts (self-hosted)

This website uses exclusively fonts stored locally on the own server. There is no connection to Google Fonts or other external providers; no data is transferred to third parties for this.

7. Getting in touch

If you contact me by email or via a contact form, your details are processed and stored to handle the enquiry and any follow-up questions. I do not pass on this data without your consent. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (initiation/performance of a contract) or (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in handling the enquiry). The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required to achieve the purpose and no statutory retention obligations preclude this.

8. Your rights

You have the right at any time to information (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and a right to object (Art. 21) to processing based on a legitimate interest. You can withdraw consent you have given at any time with effect for the future. Simply contact the address given above.

9. Right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority is, among others, the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

10. SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons, this site uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the „https://“ in your browser’s address bar.
