displayshow

Multi-tenant digital signage platform — concept, development and operation from a single source.

displayshow is a fully self-developed platform for centrally driving screens at any location straight from the browser — from a single shop-window display to a distributed fleet. It combines a lean cloud management layer with fail-safe Raspberry Pi players and virtual web displays into a system you can run without an IT department.

What the platform does

  • Central management – maintain media, playlists and layouts in the browser; changes appear automatically on every display.
  • Two player types – low-power Raspberry Pi players for on-site displays, plus virtual web displays via a simple link — with no extra hardware.
  • Images, videos & slideshows – high-resolution stills and videos, optimised automatically; folder-linked playlists update themselves as soon as new media is added.
  • Scheduling – plan content by weekday and time; displays switch on and off automatically at set times (real power management / screen control).
  • Live control – online status, a live preview of the current screen content and remote control (restart/shutdown) straight from the dashboard.
  • Multiple clients, cleanly separated – multi-tenant with role and permission management; each client sees only their own content.
  • Secure & low-maintenance – encrypted player connections over a private network, a hardened operating system and automatic self-recovery after a power outage.

From the architecture through device provisioning to ongoing operation, the entire solution comes from MessingerDesign — designed, built and hosted in-house.

Technology

Python/FastAPI backend with PostgreSQL (tenant-separated), Raspberry Pi players on a Wayland kiosk base, WireGuard-networked, hardware-accelerated video processing — fully self-hosted.
