About

I’m Philipp Messinger. I started out with logos — today I build AI systems. In between lie over 20 years in which I never stopped learning something new.

From artwork specialist to AI developer

I learned my craft at MetaDesign GmbH in Berlin — one of the country’s most renowned brand agencies. Print-ready artwork at the highest level: when the brand mark of Volkswagen or Audi has to be right down to the last detail, you learn pretty quickly what precision really means. These projects are genuine teamwork at MessingerDesign — together with Werner Messinger and the respective agencies. The full list is on the references page.

At some point the technology behind things appealed to me more than the surface. So I taught myself to code and stuck with it. Today that mix is exactly my thing: I understand design and code. That’s rare — and it’s precisely there, at the intersection, that the exciting stuff happens.

What I do today

While everyone talks about AI, I build it in. Of course I advise too — but I don’t stop at nice slides; I build the systems that then run every day in real companies:

  • meinKI — an AI that searches and answers a company’s knowledge. GDPR-compliant, on your own server, end-to-end encrypted.
  • Taktos — a project board that connects quotes, orders and accounting. No more paper chaos, no more double typing.
  • Process automation — dunning, reports, maintenance contracts: four stages, fully automatic.
  • A monitoring and security system for a public authority that records operations and reports automatically every day.

On top of that comes everything that makes up a modern digital agency: web and software development, IT support, design, photography and live streaming. What I offer in detail →

And because I like passing the craft on too: since 2023 I’ve been teaching aspiring design and fashion design students at the Macromedia University in Berlin in the subject „Creative tools analogue–digital“.

Away from the desk

Since 2010 I’ve been with the Bohnsdorf volunteer fire brigade — as a fire officer and on the board of the support association. That keeps you grounded, and it shows you pretty clearly what counts when it matters. Otherwise you’ll find me hiking, camping, at the gym or out with the camera — photography never let go of me, landscapes above all. And yes: in 2018 I invented a board game about Berlin’s BER airport with a friend. It’s called „UnberechenB€R“ (a pun on „unpredictable“) — the Berliner Kurier and Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung reported on it at the time. The name said it all.

What it’s about for me

Technology should take the tedious work off people, not create new work. If while reading you thought of a spreadsheet that long ago got out of hand, or a task that „should really be automatic“ — then let’s talk.

Let’s get started
